My first Anime Conji experience!

I have attended Anime Expo AX for 3 years (2010-2012), and it had been my ONLY convention. 2013 was a difficult year, July especially, which is why I had to miss AX last year. However, this year, I was pleased that me and my brother was able to attend Anime Conji 2014. While small, the location was beautiful, with many great picture spots! On top of that, we attended the AMV Contest Winners Showcase, which had so many amazing winners! Trust me, watching AMVs in a room with other people, on a big screen with awesome sounds is a different and more fun and exciting experience than watching it on your computer. Think of it like watching a movie at home vs. watching a movie in theaters. I wanted to get an autograph from Vic Mignogna, but the line was WAY TOO LONG. I decided to wait ’till the line died a bit, but then it was cut off. Oh well, maybe next time. Besides, I’m still stoked how at AX 2012 I got Monica Rial’s autograph, my favorite voice actress ever (sheer luck, I swear! I just happened to see her giving autographs that day XD) so it’s not like I keep missing out, there will be other times!

Also, I did the Open Mic karaoke. Maybe I’ll post a video later, but I built up the guts to go on there on stage, and it seemed well recieved. A guy even asked me what song I was singing. It was Yuki Kajiura’s “Vanity” it is a very beautiful song that I know by heart, but I looked at the scroller anyway in case lyrics slipped on me (I have one time forgot lyrics on stage, it is EMBARRASSING). Oh! And before I forget to mention, the first event we attended was the Easter Egg hunt. Cosplayer and children got a head start, hehe, and that hunt ended in like 30 seconds XD We only got like 2 eggs, which both had chocolate in in (I can’t eat chocolate, so I gave it to my brother~) It was fun, nevertheless.

I cosplay as Hajime from Hamatora The Animation. I had just recently gotten this cosplay done. It was kind of a last minute decision, ’cause originally I had planned to go as Vocaloid MEIKO, but Hajime would be easier (no wig, yay!) and I got recognized about FIVE TIMES! I was actually really surprised, it was cool to find other Hamatora fans who wanted my picture. Sure, it was kinda lonely being the only Hamatora cosplayer, but at least I could make someone’s day! Here’s my best Hajime photo my brother took;

The Artist Alley was small, and I was disappointed in their lack of manga choices (most of it were of the 18+ variety, not my thing), but I did manage to find some cool stuff to get. I was low on money, but despite that, I got a commission from nekomata091 of my manga character, Satomi Hiroyama, and from another table, two keychains of Pikachu and Vocaloid Len!

And of course, my brother and I got some good shots of other neat cosplayers! There were many others we didn’t get a chance to ask for pictures, but here’s everything we were able to get! See yourself here? Let me know, and I’ll add you to the tags!

It may have been a small con, but it had a really nice atmosphere. The people were cool and nice, the location was beautiful, and though it was the last day, the events they did have were still fun and awesome to attend. I hope Conji continues to be held at The Sheraton & Marina, there’s just too many nice places for photos! Anyway, so that was my experience, maybe later I can post my experience of 2011 and 2012 Anime Expo, just so this blog is up-to-date. But anyway, this was my most recent experience, with my latest completed cosplay. I was glad to have met everyone I did, and thank you cosplayers for letting us have a picture!
